As Presidents of three of the largest homeowner communities in Wellington, we were invited to a polo match, on three separate weekends, by the President of the Council of Community Associations (CCA). Despite all of us having lived here for many years, none of us had ever been to a polo match before and knew little about the sport.

Recognizing that tens of thousands of Wellington residents – like us -- had never enjoyed the equestrian bounty in their backyard, our host, an avid polo player for almost 20 years, invited us to join him, expecting us to be thrilled by the experience. HE WAS RIGHT! The match was one of the most exciting spectator experiences in our lives.
He suggested that we offer to our 7,000 homeowner-members excursions not only to polo matches, but to the other equestrian venues in Wellington. He pointed out that our members not only would enjoy the experience but would be supporting the equestrian community as well.

We agree – and will actively sponsor and support the equestrian activities in Wellington. Indeed, we will go beyond attendance and encourage the homeowners in Wellington to explore possible participation by taking lessons. After all, any sport needs new blood to thrive.

Consequently, the Board of the Council of Community Associations, of which we are all members, passed a Resolution to encourage the other HOAs in Wellington to support the equestrian community and to include equestrian activities as part of our Shop Wellington program.

Greg Cafano, President of the Isles Master HOA
Harvey Bloom, President of the Buena Vida HOA

Now you are knowledgeable enough to return -- and enjoy -- future events on your own.
And to explore the full beauty and excitement of your preferred equestrian sport, take a lesson. Who knows? You may enjoy it enough to become a future equestrian -- and even compete in a national tournament, Grand Prix competition or the Olympics, which many of our Equestrian Advisory Board members have done.
